What will Lindhurst look like?

Lindhurst is an employment-led scheme with four separate sites, all next to and clearly visible from the MARR. They're in great locations, each high profile enough to attract quality businesses.

Up to 23 hectares of new employment sites will attract a range of businesses, from high-tech companies to retailers and from the leisure industry to professional practices. And of course, job opportunities will be available for local people throughout the construction period. Up to 4,000 jobs could be created in all, representing investment into the local economy of about £100m every year.

Creating Lindhurst will mean a total investment of about £170m. That includes the infrastructure, establishing the employment sites, building the houses and creating the green spaces, pedestrian and cycle routes and natural habitats.

With up to 1,700 homes, Lindhurst will provide high-quality, family homes in a vibrant and desirable community. The houses will be designed and built for people looking for homes for long-term moves, whether they ae starting out, building a family or approaching retirement.

Space will be provided to give Mansfield the option for a new school, educating children at the heart of the community.

Groceries and everyday items will be handy at the convenient local centre and will be another source of new jobs for the area.

Accessibility to, from and through the site is crucial. The MARR makes Lindhurst easily accessible to employers and to potential employees from all the main districts in north Nottinghamshire.

More jobs and homes mean more journeys. The road network will keep junctions and roundabouts flowing freely - because no-one likes being stuck in traffic.

And with about four miles of green routes, cycling will be a safe and attractive way to get around.

Knowing when to nip to the bus stop will be easy. With a digital timetable at every bus stop, you'll know just when the bus will be passing. There will be two new bus routes to the town centre and between Sutton and Crown Farm. Route 18 will be extended.

We are serious about protecting this precious area. Lindhurst has been designed to the highest urban design possible, with the environmental impact of the development mitigated through the introduction of nature corridors and green routes and with one third of the total site remaining as green space. We are keeping every bridleway and public footpath and adding nearly four miles of new green routes. And a 20-metre deep green corridor will run alongside existing homes, attracting all kinds of wildlife.

There will be plenty of open spaces, leisure and community sports facilities too.

Three hundred years ago, local people gathered at the Forest Stone in the fields of Lindhurst Farm. In recent times it has been tucked away - but now it will be fully accessible again, at the centre of a community park.
