When is it all likely to happen?

1992

The pits close and Nottinghamshire loses 9,000 jobs. Our local economy is in freefall.

1997

The government's Coalfield Task Force is formed to tackle economic and social decline in former mining areas.

1998

The Coalfield Task Force says north Nottinghamshire needs better transport to attract modern businesses. It recommends connecting Mansfield, Ashfield and the M1.

2002

The Government commits £28.1m to the Mansfield Ashfield Regeneration Route (MARR). The route opens six months early, in 2004.

2005

The Sherwood Growth Zone Partnership begins working with investors, developers, local companies and the public sector, to develop along the route.

2007

Mansfield District Council starts to consider a Sustainable Urban Extension, to deliver the homes and businesses it needs.

2008

The Lindhurst Group creates a workable master plan for a community south of Mansfield.

2009

The Lindhurst Group seeks people's views, at a public exhibition, debate and community meetings throughout November, December and January 2010.

2010

The outline planning application was submitted to Mansfield District Council at the beginning of February. The authority will begin the statutory consultation period in due course. It could take up to six months to reach a decision. If approved, Lindhurst will be developed in phases with the employment sites the first to come forward.
